A maioria das pessoas tem a imagem da bacia amaz\u00f4nica como uma vasta floresta, mas esquecemos que ela est\u00e1 conformada por uma grande variedade de habitats (<a href=\"http:\/\/pt.aguasamazonicas.org\/paisagens-aquaticas\/tipos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see more here<\/a>), desde rios e lagoas altas andinas (acima dos 4000 metros nos Andes), passando por uma regi\u00e3o de encosta com quedas e c\u00e2nions, uma regi\u00e3o de plan\u00edcie com rios de \u00e1guas brancas, pretas e claras (<a href=\"http:\/\/pt.aguasamazonicas.org\/aguas-2\/tipos-dos-rios\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see more here<\/a>), e finalmente uma regi\u00e3o estuarina, que para muitas esp\u00e9cies \u00e9 a principal zona de alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o e crescimento (<a href=\"http:\/\/pt.aguasamazonicas.org\/bacias\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see more here<\/a>). Para conhecer o estado de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o dos peixes ao longo da bacia amaz\u00f4nica, realizamos diversas pesquisas com o objetivo de ajudar a resolver estes vazios de informa\u00e7\u00e3o. Uma das primeiras perguntas para ser resolvida foi saber qual \u00e9 o estado do risco de amea\u00e7a dos peixes que se distribuem na regi\u00e3o andina. Para isto avaliamos 666 esp\u00e9cies end\u00eamicas desta regi\u00e3o, seguindo os crit\u00e9rios de amea\u00e7a da IUCN. Encontramos que 74 esp\u00e9cies apresentavam algum n\u00edvel de amea\u00e7a, nas classes \u201cperigo cr\u00edtico\u201d (13 esp\u00e9cies), em perigo (28 esp\u00e9cies) e vulner\u00e1vel (33 esp\u00e9cies). Tamb\u00e9m buscamos compreender quais s\u00e3o as principais amea\u00e7as que est\u00e3o colocando em risco os peixes andinos (veja a refer\u00eancia 1 no final desta p\u00e1gina).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section priorit\u00e1rias de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o para os peixes end\u00eamicos dos Andes, sendo o principal objetivo identificar lacunas na cobertura das \u00e1reas protegidas existentes e identificar \u00e1reas priorit\u00e1rias de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o que cubram adequadamente as esp\u00e9cies amea\u00e7adas e vulner\u00e1veis \u00e0s mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas (2).\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Muitos dos impactos nos Andes est\u00e3o produzindo fragmenta\u00e7\u00e3o da bacia (perda de conectividade do rio por causa de constru\u00e7\u00e3o de usinas, dragagem do rio, minera\u00e7\u00e3o, etc.), impedindo que v\u00e1rios peixes que dependem desta conectividade n\u00e3o possam cumprir seu ciclo de vida. Para demostrar como a conectividade cumpre uma fun\u00e7\u00e3o importante no ciclo de vida dos peixes, realizamos coletas intensivas de larvas e indiv\u00edduos juvenis e adultos de v\u00e1rias esp\u00e9cies de bagres gigantes, que realizam extensas migra\u00e7\u00f5es desde o estu\u00e1rio at\u00e9 os Andes. Conclu\u00edmos que a principal \u00e1rea de desova se encontra nas cabeceiras aproximadamente a 3500 km do estu\u00e1rio do rio Amazonas, onde os bagres percorrem cerca de 8000 km em seu percurso desde sua \u00e1rea de desova nos Andes, a \u00e1rea de alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o e crescimento no estu\u00e1rio, e seu retorno para desova nos Andes (3) (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hnnXQj8tRKQ&amp;ab_channel=WCSPer%C3%BA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">veja este v\u00eddeo<\/a>). Adicionalmente coletas nas encostas dos Andes permitiram registrar informa\u00e7\u00f5es do comprimento dos peixes e relacion\u00e1-lo com seus pesos (4).<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Apesar dos muitos estudos j\u00e1 realizados na bacia amaz\u00f4nica, em cada coleta de campo e em visitas a cole\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas ictiol\u00f3gicas, h\u00e1 sempre a possibilidade de descobrir alguma poss\u00edvel esp\u00e9cie nova. Ao fazer nossas expedi\u00e7\u00f5es e visitas de cole\u00e7\u00f5es, e depois de um rigoroso estudo taxon\u00f4mico utilizando todas ferramentas\u00a0 como analises morfol\u00f3gico, morfom\u00e9trico e molecular, conseguimos descrever novas esp\u00e9cies, como as esp\u00e9cies <em>Bryconops sapezal<\/em> Wingert, Chuctaya, Malabarba, 2018 da bacia do rio Tapaj\u00f3s (5), e <em>Odontostilbe pacaasnovos<\/em> Chuctaya, Ohara, Malabarba, 2020, descrita da bacia do rio Madeira (6), assim como outras esp\u00e9cies que foram coletadas em expedi\u00e7\u00f5es no Peru (rios Mara\u00f1\u00f3n, Huallaga, Pachitea, Ucayali e Madre de Dios), Equador (rio Napo) e Brasil (rios Madeira, Negro e Tapaj\u00f3s) que atualmente estamos finalizando sua descri\u00e7\u00e3o, para sua publica\u00e7\u00e3o formal.<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Muitas destas coletas permitiram registrar esp\u00e9cies que at\u00e9 o momento pensava-se que tinham distribui\u00e7\u00e3o restrita a certas regi\u00f5es e habitats, como a esp\u00e9cie <em>Micromyzon akamai<\/em> Friel e Lundberg, 1996. Este \u00e9 um peixe cego e muito pequeno (menos de 14 mm) que havia sido coletado previamente apenas nos fundos de rios profundos dos principais rios da bacia amaz\u00f4nica perto do estu\u00e1rio. Com coletas no rio Curaray (Equador), ampliou-se sua distribui\u00e7\u00e3o para as cabeceiras da bacia amaz\u00f4nica. Observamos, assim, um vazio de informa\u00e7\u00f5es desta esp\u00e9cie para a parte m\u00e9dia da bacia.
