Durante a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COP26<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, em 2021, o Brasil assumiu publicamente alguns compromissos para combater as mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas. Dentre estes destacam-se reduzir as emiss\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa at\u00e9 2030 em 50% em rela\u00e7\u00e3o aos n\u00edveis de 2005 e zerar o desmatamento ilegal at\u00e9 2028. No entanto, a tend\u00eancia recente de aumento nas taxas anuais de desmatamento da <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibge.gov.br\/geociencias\/cartas-e-mapas\/mapas-regionais\/15819-amazonia-legal.html?=&amp;t=acesso-ao-produto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Amaz\u00f4nia<\/strong> <strong>Legal<\/strong><\/a><\/span> contrasta com essas metas. De acordo com o <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/terrabrasilis.dpi.inpe.br\/app\/dashboard\/deforestation\/biomes\/legal_amazon\/rates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INPE<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, ap\u00f3s uma redu\u00e7\u00e3o hist\u00f3rica do desmatamento de 84% alcan\u00e7ada em 2012 em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a 2004, as taxas anuais de desmatamento da Amaz\u00f4nia Legal voltaram a crescer e atingiram em 2021 o maior valor desde 2006 (13.038 km2). O caminho tra\u00e7ado pelo Brasil pode colocar em risco todos os esfor\u00e7os globais para um planeta sustent\u00e1vel, comprometer a conserva\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade tropical e o bem-estar dos povos amaz\u00f4nicos. Claramente, estas a\u00e7\u00f5es n\u00e3o est\u00e3o produzindo o efeito desejado no per\u00edodo atual, pois, de acordo com o <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/terrabrasilis.dpi.inpe.br\/app\/dashboard\/deforestation\/biomes\/legal_amazon\/rates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INPE<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, desde 2019 as taxas anuais de desmatamento na Amaz\u00f4nia Legal ultrapassam 10.000 km2. Nem mesmo a recente ado\u00e7\u00e3o do <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/pt-br\/noticias\/meio-ambiente-e-clima\/2021\/04\/plano-amazonia-2021-2022-tem-resolucao-aprovada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plano Amaz\u00f4nia 2021\/2022<\/a><\/strong>, que foca as a\u00e7\u00f5es de combate ao desmatamento ilegal em 11 munic\u00edpios amaz\u00f4nicos, foi suficiente para diminuir o desmatamento. Soma-se a isto o fato de que os \u00f3rg\u00e3os respons\u00e1veis por fiscalizar o desmatamento, como o Ibama e o ICMBio, t\u00eam sofrido com cortes de recursos, tanto de servidores como de or\u00e7amento. Desta forma, futuras a\u00e7\u00f5es de combate ao desmatamento devem maximizar o sucesso operacional ao se concentrarem na menor \u00e1rea geogr\u00e1fica poss\u00edvel que contribuem para a maior fra\u00e7\u00e3o de desmatamento em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 toda Amaz\u00f4nia Legal.<\/span><\/p><p>O artigo publicado recentemente <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0na revista <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/journal\/1755263x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Conservation Letters<\/i><\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> por pesquisadores brasileiros e de outros pa\u00edses (Col\u00f4mbia e Fran\u00e7a) prop\u00f5e um novo m\u00e9todo para priorizar \u00e1reas de combate ao desmatamento na Amaz\u00f4nia com base em imagens de sat\u00e9lite e intelig\u00eancia artificial. \u00a0Para estabelecer as \u00e1reas priorit\u00e1rias, o m\u00e9todo considera c\u00e9lulas de 25 km por 25 km distribu\u00eddas regularmente sobre toda a Amaz\u00f4nia. Ent\u00e3o, com base no algoritmo <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1023\/A:1010933404324\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Random Forest<\/i><\/a><\/strong><\/span>, \u00e9 feita uma estimativa do desmatamento em cada c\u00e9lula para o ano seguinte e definida uma classe de prioridade para cada uma destas c\u00e9lulas. Elabora\u00e7\u00e3o: Guilherme Mataveli, INPE<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e5c5f3a elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"e5c5f3a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-76a943bf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"76a943bf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ao comparar a localiza\u00e7\u00e3o das \u00e1reas de alta prioridade em 2021 com os pol\u00edgonos de desmatamento delimitados pelo programa <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.obt.inpe.br\/OBT\/assuntos\/programas\/amazonia\/prodes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PRODES<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> para este mesmo ano, o m\u00e9todo proposto identificou mais de 66% do desmatamento nas \u00e1reas de alta prioridade, enquanto cobre 26% menos territ\u00f3rio que o previsto no Plano Amaz\u00f4nia 2021\/2022. Este mesmo padr\u00e3o foi encontrado em demais anos analisados. Ainda, as \u00e1reas de alta prioridade concentraram mais \u00e1reas classificadas como desmatadas pelo programa PRODES em ambas as terras p\u00fablicas e privadas do que o plano Amaz\u00f4nia 2021\/2022. Finalmente, uma importante contribui\u00e7\u00e3o da pesquisa \u00e9 conseguir identificar novas fronteiras de desmatamento, como as que est\u00e3o surgindo no estado de Roraima.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Priorizar adequadamente as \u00e1reas de combate ao desmatamento na Amaz\u00f4nia \u00e9 o primeiro passo para reduzir as taxas de desmatamento e recolocar o Brasil no caminho para manter seus ativos ambientais, cumprir seus compromissos internacionais e proteger sua economia baseada em <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">commodities<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. No entanto, uma s\u00e9rie de a\u00e7\u00f5es complementares s\u00e3o necess\u00e1rias para combater a desmatamento ilegal no longo prazo. Dentre elas, destacam-se promover a educa\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental, punir quem infringe as leis de prote\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental e incentivar projetos focados em extrair valor econ\u00f4mico da floresta em p\u00e9.
