Resende<\/i><\/p><p class=\"has-drop-cap\">A\u00a0mais urgente das crises atuais \u00e9 a mudan\u00e7a do clima pois j\u00e1 extrapolamos os limites da nossa atmosfera e estamos sofrendo as consequ\u00eancias. As crescentes altera\u00e7\u00f5es que causamos no sistema clim\u00e1tico global afetam profundamente a economia e a sociedade e ampliam outras crises ambientais como a h\u00eddrica e a da biodiversidade. A cada tonelada de carbono que emitimos para a atmosfera, atingimos mais um <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecycle.com.br\/ponto-de-nao-retorno\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>ponto de n\u00e3o retorno<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, desequilibramos mais ecossistemas, perdemos as chances de evitar maiores desastres e somos obrigados a encarar elevadas temperaturas, aumento dos n\u00edveis de oceanos e rios, derretimento de geleiras no \u00c1rtico e os catastr\u00f3ficos eventos extremos. No Brasil e em todo o mundo, cada vez que fechamos os olhos para a mudan\u00e7a do clima acordamos no dia seguinte com not\u00edcias tr\u00e1gicas, seja por tempestades e deslizamentos de terra em Petr\u00f3polis, inunda\u00e7\u00f5es at\u00edpicas em Manaus, geadas at\u00edpicas ou reservat\u00f3rios vazios no Sudeste, e muita seca e sofrimento no Nordeste.<\/p><blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Por vezes pensamos que os desastres est\u00e3o concentrados nos locais mais alterados e que as regi\u00f5es distantes e quase inabitadas da Amaz\u00f4nia est\u00e3o naturalmente protegidas de tais extremos. Por\u00e9m estamos enganados, nem mesmo o peixe que nunca viu um ser humano ou a \u00e1rvore velha que reina na floresta mais distante daquela est\u00e3o a salvo da mudan\u00e7a do clima, e \u00e9 aqui que come\u00e7a essa hist\u00f3ria.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><p>Eu e o grupo de Ecologia, Monitoramento e Uso Sustent\u00e1vel de \u00c1reas \u00damidas (grupo <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/maua.inpa.gov.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MAUA<\/a><\/strong><\/span>) do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amaz\u00f4nia (INPA) e outros pesquisadores, descobrimos que \u00e1rvores muito velhas de ambiente \u00fanico, na interface \u00e1gua e terra (sujeito a uma fase aqu\u00e1tica e outra terrestre), mesmo longe, s\u00e3o afetadas pelas pessoas. Mas antes das \u00e1rvores, vamos falar dos rios da Amaz\u00f4nia, pois eles s\u00e3o a raz\u00e3o de tudo: os grandes rios da Amaz\u00f4nia Central possuem uma din\u00e2mica de oscila\u00e7\u00e3o dos seus n\u00edveis, onde uma vez por ano os rios sobem cerca de 10 m de altura em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao n\u00edvel mais baixo, e depois descem devido ao regime de chuvas. As florestas que margeiam os grandes rios s\u00e3o chamadas florestas alag\u00e1veis, pois elas s\u00e3o adaptadas a essa din\u00e2mica. Mais do que isso, muitas esp\u00e9cies que ocorrem apenas nesses ambientes dependem da oscila\u00e7\u00e3o anual e previs\u00edvel (fase aqu\u00e1tica e fase terrestre) para crescerem e se reproduzirem. E a fauna da floresta amaz\u00f4nica tamb\u00e9m depende tanto da din\u00e2mica do rio quanto dos frutos, flores, folhas e abrigo que as florestas alag\u00e1veis fornecem.<\/p><p>Hoje vamos falar da esp\u00e9cie <strong><em>Eschweilera tenuifolia<\/em><\/strong> da fam\u00edlia da castanheira (ou castanha-do-Par\u00e1), que \u00e9 chamada \u201cmacacarecuia\u201d ou mesmo \u201ccuieira\u201d, conta do fruto em forma de cuia, e produz castanhas que a fauna adora. Dentre as \u00e1rvores das florestas alag\u00e1veis, as macacarecuias s\u00e3o as que vivem no ambiente mais peculiar, que \u00e9 a parte mais pr\u00f3xima do rio, ou seja, a parte com a coluna d\u2019\u00e1gua mais alta na \u00e9poca da cheia. Portanto, as \u00e1rvores passam at\u00e9 10 meses debaixo da \u00e1gua com um curto per\u00edodo seco prop\u00edcio para \u201crespirar\u201d (sem priva\u00e7\u00f5es de oxig\u00eanio como na fase aqu\u00e1tica) e crescer. Esse \u00e9 talvez o ambiente mais extremo que uma esp\u00e9cie arb\u00f3rea na Amaz\u00f4nia consegue chegar. E depois de milhares de anos de adapta\u00e7\u00e3o e evolu\u00e7\u00e3o, as macacarecuias come\u00e7aram a dominar esse ambiente (vamos cham\u00e1-lo de regi\u00e3o de \u2018cotas super baixas\u2019), veja na figura abaixo como s\u00f3 d\u00e1 ela por ali.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5ed40e elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"d5ed40e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d329762 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"7d329762\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5c594af9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"5c594af9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3b0a8701 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3b0a8701\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Devido ao aumento dos n\u00edveis dos oceanos, o Rio Amazonas subiu no \u00faltimo s\u00e9culo, assim como os rios que s\u00e3o barrados pelo Amazonas tamb\u00e9m subiram cerca de um metro (veja mais sobre isso e outros efeitos da Mudan\u00e7a do Clima <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographicbrasil.com\/meio-ambiente\/2021\/08\/mudancas-climaticas-e-atividades-humanas-ja-ameacam-areas-inundaveis-da-amazonia#:~:text=Mudan%C3%A7as%20clim%C3%A1ticas%2C%20desmatamento%2C%20hidrel%C3%A9tricas%2C,abrangente%20da%20import%C3%A2ncia%20desses%20ecossistemas.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nesta reportagem<\/a><\/strong><\/span>). Al\u00e9m deste aumento gradual e permanente nos n\u00edveis, tamb\u00e9m causamos nesses ambientes \u00fanicos um aumento exacerbado na frequ\u00eancia de eventos de cheias at\u00edpicas e secas severas (os famosos eventos extremos). Na minha <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/repositorio.inpa.gov.br\/handle\/1\/12852\">tese de doutorado<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (sob orienta\u00e7\u00e3o do Dr. Jochen Sch\u00f6ngart), n\u00f3s estudamos as florestas alag\u00e1veis de \u00e1guas pretas (igap\u00f3s) nas bacias do Rio Uatum\u00e3 (que desagua diretamente no Rio Amazonas) e do Rio Ja\u00fa (este des\u00e1gua no Rio Negro, que se junta ao Rio Amazonas). No \u00faltimo s\u00e9culo o rio subiu e algumas \u00e1rvores deixaram de ter aquele pequeno intervalo para \u201crespirar\u201d e crescer fora d\u2019\u00e1gua (fase terrestre) e por isso lentamente morreram, outras continuaram vivas porque estavam em uma posi\u00e7\u00e3o mais favor\u00e1vel, um pouco mais altas que as \u00e1reas afetadas pela eleva\u00e7\u00e3o dos rios. <\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><p>Por\u00e9m, com a mudan\u00e7a do clima, mais \u00e1rvores est\u00e3o morrendo porque os eventos extremos est\u00e3o cada vez mais frequentes, como alguns anos de cheias prolongadas no in\u00edcio dos anos 70 e diversos anos de secas severas como aquelas de 1982\/83, 1997\/38 e tamb\u00e9m 2015\/16. Nos anos de secas severas, al\u00e9m de ficarem propensos \u00e0 mortalidade pela seca em si, os igap\u00f3s tamb\u00e9m podem pegar fogo.<\/p><p>Todas essas constata\u00e7\u00f5es s\u00f3 nos levam a uma conclus\u00e3o, a de que os igap\u00f3s, e em especial as florestas de macacarecuias, s\u00e3o ambientes de alta import\u00e2ncia ecol\u00f3gica e extremamente suscept\u00edveis \u00e0 mudan\u00e7a do clima e tamb\u00e9m \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es antr\u00f3picas no pulso de inunda\u00e7\u00e3o.
