A din\u00e2mica de chuvas na Amaz\u00f4nia est\u00e1 fortemente ligada aos padr\u00f5es de diversidade biol\u00f3gica que caracteriza este bioma. Isso porque na bacia amaz\u00f4nica h\u00e1 uma combina\u00e7\u00e3o de um alto volume de chuvas e um terreno predominantemente plano. O resultado desta combina\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 uma paisagem desenhada por grandes rios \u2013 como os rios Amazonas, Madeira e Tapaj\u00f3s \u2013 que separam ou conectam (dependendo do organismo!) as regi\u00f5es na Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/p>\n<p>Os terrenos baixos que est\u00e3o ao redor dos grandes rios amaz\u00f4nicos s\u00e3o chamados de plan\u00edcies de inunda\u00e7\u00e3o, localmente conhecidas por v\u00e1rzea ou igap\u00f3. S\u00e3o locais anualmente inundados devido ao extravasamento das \u00e1guas dos rios, um processo que pode durar meses e que afeta todos os seres que ali habitam. As \u00e1reas que n\u00e3o inundam s\u00e3o justamente as que est\u00e3o situadas em terrenos mais altos e s\u00e3o chamadas de terra firme. Muitos estudos demonstram que h\u00e1 um padr\u00e3o consistente na distribui\u00e7\u00e3o geogr\u00e1fica de esp\u00e9cies de aves em \u00e1reas de terra firme devido \u00e0 presen\u00e7a dos grandes rios que atuam como uma barreira para a dispers\u00e3o de diversas esp\u00e9cies, n\u00e3o somente de aves.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>As \u00e1reas entre os grandes rios amaz\u00f4nicos s\u00e3o chamadas de interfl\u00favios e nestes locais h\u00e1 uma concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de esp\u00e9cies end\u00eamicas, ou seja, esp\u00e9cies que somente s\u00e3o encontradas nestas \u00e1reas (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/261525047_Areas_de_endemismo_corredores_de_biodiversidade_e_a_conservacao_da_Amazonia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">veja mais sobre \u00e1reas de endemismo aqui<\/a><\/strong><\/span>). No entanto, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel notar que \u00e1reas de v\u00e1rzeas e igap\u00f3s n\u00e3o s\u00e3o homog\u00eaneas ao longo da bacia Amaz\u00f4nica, visto que s\u00e3o divididas em pelo menos quatro ecorregi\u00f5es. De acordo com a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwf.org.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.wwf.org.br\">WWF<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, uma ecorregi\u00e3o \u00e9 \u201cuma grande unidade de terra ou \u00e1gua que cont\u00e9m um conjunto geograficamente distinto de esp\u00e9cies, comunidades naturais e condi\u00e7\u00f5es ambientais&#8221;. Os limites das ecorregi\u00f5es de terra firme coincidem com os das \u00e1reas de endemismo (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwf.org.br\/natureza_brasileira\/questoes_ambientais\/biomas\/bioma_amazonia\/mapa_amazonia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">veja neste material<\/a><\/strong><\/span>) e, portanto, s\u00e3o conceitos complementares.<\/p>\n<p>Realizamos um estudo nas v\u00e1rzeas do segundo maior rio da Amaz\u00f4nia, o rio Madeira, com o objetivo de analisar os padr\u00f5es de diversidade e ocorr\u00eancia de esp\u00e9cies de aves ao longo de diferentes pontos destas v\u00e1rzeas. Percorremos cerca de 800 km desde Porto Velho, no estado de Rond\u00f4nia, e que corresponde \u00e0 por\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00e9dia do rio Madeira, at\u00e9 a sua foz, onde ocorre o encontro com o rio Amazonas.<\/p>\n<p>Registramos 402 esp\u00e9cies de aves nos diferentes ambientes de v\u00e1rzea do rio Madeira. Por outro lado, nossos resultados indicam que as esp\u00e9cies de aves n\u00e3o s\u00e3o as mesmas ao longo do rio, ou seja, que ocorre uma substitui\u00e7\u00e3o de esp\u00e9cies da por\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00e9dia do rio Madeira at\u00e9 sua foz. Al\u00e9m disso, as aves que observamos nas ilhas fluviais s\u00e3o consideravelmente distintas daquelas vistas ao longo das margens. Estas esp\u00e9cies, como o formigueiro-preto-e-branco (<em>Myrmochanes hemileucus<\/em>) e o jo\u00e3o-de-barriga-branca [<em>Mazaria <\/em>(<em>Synallaxis<\/em>)<em> propinqua<\/em>], s\u00e3o exemplos de aves dependentes dos sistemas de ilhas fluviais.<\/p>\n<p>Nossa pesquisa ressalta a elevada diversidade de aves presente nas v\u00e1rzeas do rio Madeira e sugere que o padr\u00e3o de distribui\u00e7\u00e3o espacial destas esp\u00e9cies est\u00e1 relacionado ao gradiente de altitude. Al\u00e9m disso, refor\u00e7a o valor das plan\u00edcies de inunda\u00e7\u00e3o para a manuten\u00e7\u00e3o de uma parcela importante da avifauna amaz\u00f4nica.
