A partir da intera\u00e7\u00e3o destas amea\u00e7as regionais com estressores globais de clima, <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1126\/sciadv.aat2340\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>cientistas preveem perdas irrevers\u00edveis para a biodiversidade<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Um dos pap\u00e9is-chaves que a ci\u00eancia pode desempenhar neste cen\u00e1rio \u00e9 o de documentar e trazer evid\u00eancias. Se a perspectiva de impactos irrevers\u00edveis para a biodiversidade soa como um cen\u00e1rio alarmista fora dos muros da academia, \u00e9 na presen\u00e7a de evid\u00eancias que o discurso pode virar pr\u00e1tica e alcan\u00e7ar mais pessoas. Em um contexto onde o conhecimento sobre a biodiversidade (especialmente a Amaz\u00f4nica) ainda apresenta lacunas sobre quais s\u00e3o as esp\u00e9cies, onde est\u00e3o distribu\u00eddas ou quais as din\u00e2micas que seguem (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1146\/annurev-ecolsys-112414-054400\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>veja mais sobre as lacunas de conhecimento aqui<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), contextualizar narrativas com evid\u00eancias que preencham estas lacunas pode ser um caminho para reden\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade e da ci\u00eancia da conserva\u00e7\u00e3o brasileira.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No setor privado, as diversas etapas do licenciamento ambiental de empreendimentos produzem atualmente dados de biodiversidade com potencial de preencher estas lacunas. Um bom exemplo s\u00e3o os ecossistemas subterr\u00e2neos e seus componentes mais acess\u00edveis e conhecidos, as cavernas. Estes representam um grande desafio para conserva\u00e7\u00e3o no Brasil, uma vez que sua distribui\u00e7\u00e3o agregada coincide, frequentemente, com reservas minerais ou terras de interesse ao agroneg\u00f3cio, ambos de grande potencial econ\u00f4mico. At\u00e9 o in\u00edcio de 2020, o <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icmbio.gov.br\/cecav\/images\/stories\/downloads\/Anuario\/CECAV_-_Anuario_estatistico_espeleol%C3%B3gico_2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Brasil possu\u00eda pouco mais de 20 mil cavernas documentadas em seu territ\u00f3rio<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ano em que o setor mineral contribuiu com <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/desafios2.ipea.gov.br\/radar\/temas\/mineracao\/811-contribuicao-do-setor-mineral-no-produto-interno-bruto-brasileiro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cerca de 3,182% do PIB brasileiro<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. D\u00e1 para ter uma ideia do desafio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dotados de uma biodiversidade \u00fanica, ecossistemas subterr\u00e2neos abrigam desde esp\u00e9cies visitantes facultativas at\u00e9 esp\u00e9cies que s\u00e3o classificadas como obrigatoriamente subterr\u00e2neas, com adapta\u00e7\u00f5es para a vida no subsolo. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As esp\u00e9cies obrigatoriamente subterr\u00e2neas s\u00e3o especialistas de habitat, em sua maioria muito raras ou at\u00e9 micro-end\u00eamicas (ou seja, s\u00e3o limitadas em sua distribui\u00e7\u00e3o geogr\u00e1fica e capacidade de dispers\u00e3o). Para estas esp\u00e9cies as lacunas no conhecimento s\u00e3o as mais evidentes e as mais impactantes. S\u00e3o esp\u00e9cies que costumam apresentar caracter\u00edsticas associadas \u00e0s restri\u00e7\u00f5es que estes ambientes extremos imp\u00f5em, como por exemplo a aus\u00eancia de pigmenta\u00e7\u00e3o cut\u00e2nea, redu\u00e7\u00e3o de olhos e ap\u00eandices sensoriais alongados. (B) S\u00e3o paisagens heterog\u00eaneas que aliam ambos estes ambientes naturais com a atividade de minera\u00e7\u00e3o (ao fundo). Entremeadas nesta paisagem exterior, encontramos as cavidades naturais como porta de entrada aos ecossistemas subterr\u00e2neos (C). Cr\u00e9ditos nas fotos: Acervo ITV-DS.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-757c13f elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"757c13f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-71ed1893 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"71ed1893\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.7717\/peerj.4531\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Em um estudo publicado em 2018<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, baseado em dados compilados da ocorr\u00eancia de esp\u00e9cies subterr\u00e2neas obrigat\u00f3rias em 473 cavernas, demonstrou-se como a paisagem externa a uma cavidade pode influenciar tanto quanto suas caracter\u00edsticas internas (dimens\u00f5es e heterogeneidade) na diversidade e composi\u00e7\u00e3o de esp\u00e9cies que esta caverna abriga. A maioria destas esp\u00e9cies estavam de fato restritas a uma ou poucas cavernas, mas algumas foram encontradas em mais de 100 cavernas, sendo que cavernas pr\u00f3ximas compartilhavam mais esp\u00e9cies que as distantes. <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.ecolind.2019.01.086\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Em um segundo estudo publicado em 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, aproveitamos o mesmo banco de dados para investigar poss\u00edveis subgrupos indicadores de biodiversidade, \u00fateis para se estudar apenas uma parte que represente o todo da biodiversidade. Desta vez, demonstramos que as esp\u00e9cies raras, foco da legisla\u00e7\u00e3o para classifica\u00e7\u00e3o de cavernas,\u00a0 n\u00e3o foram t\u00e3o boas em prever todo o hist\u00f3rico evolutivo da biodiversidade cavern\u00edcola. Por outro lado, o uso de esp\u00e9cies pertencentes aos grupos dos <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aracn%C3%ADdeos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aracn\u00eddeos<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Arachnida) e dos <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Collembola#:~:text=Os%20col%C3%AAmbolos%2C%20ou%20a%20ordem,ordem%20abarca%20aproximadamente%207.900%20esp%C3%A9cies.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Col\u00eambolos <\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Entognatha) foi mais eficiente para este fim. Novamente, a efici\u00eancia destas esp\u00e9cies indicadoras funcionava melhor entre cavernas mais pr\u00f3ximas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em outro <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/peerj.com\/articles\/11271\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>estudo de 2021<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, desta vez monitoramos a abund\u00e2ncia de 33 esp\u00e9cies cavern\u00edcolas ao longo de quatro anos, usando dados da mesma regi\u00e3o. Dentre esp\u00e9cies de invertebrados subterr\u00e2neo-obrigat\u00f3rias e vertebrados visitantes ocasionais, como roedores e anf\u00edbios, curiosamente, esp\u00e9cies de Aracn\u00eddeos novamente se destacaram em indicar respostas frente \u00e0s atividades antr\u00f3picas avaliadas. Assumindo que quatro anos representam um per\u00edodo ainda inicial para avalia\u00e7\u00e3o de impactos, consideramos estas esp\u00e9cies como indicadores de \u201ccurto prazo\u201d de efeitos da minera\u00e7\u00e3o sob a biodiversidade nestes ecossistemas (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1111\/j.1469-185X.1997.tb00029.x?casa_token=BtgFf0DDvh8AAAAA:vVDHsLsepOHcPMVv_W7sfUiwTWJYYmY7dkkajAtO9pkyl8hXsmBKmtUi6WAJIm7aydB-XvLUrhNapIumGD0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>veja mais sobre esp\u00e9cies indicadoras aqui<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Ainda assim, para a maioria das esp\u00e9cies que analisamos, nenhum padr\u00e3o claro foi detectado, sugerindo a necessidade de per\u00edodos maiores de monitoramento e ac\u00famulo de evid\u00eancias.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seguimos avan\u00e7ando em outras frentes, mas os resultados encontrados nestes estudos j\u00e1 trouxeram luz sobre a relev\u00e2ncia da paisagem externa para a biodiversidade em ecossistemas subterr\u00e2neos. Isso significa que a conserva\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade cavern\u00edcola est\u00e1 interligada com a paisagem que envolve estes ecossistemas. Al\u00e9m disso, nossos resultados contribuem na otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o dos processos de monitoramento ambiental, direcionando a aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos para grupos de esp\u00e9cies indicadoras em desenhos experimentais mais adequados.
