Por s\u00e9culos, naturalistas buscaram identificar os padr\u00f5es desta biodiversidade e os processos que a moldaram, postulando cen\u00e1rios e hip\u00f3teses de diversifica\u00e7\u00e3o (evolu\u00e7\u00e3o) das esp\u00e9cies. Uma das hip\u00f3teses mais estudadas na Amaz\u00f4nia \u00e9 a <a href=\"https:\/\/portalamazonia.com\/noticias\/a-complexa-relacao-entre-os-rios-e-as-aves-na-amazonia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>hip\u00f3tese dos rios como barreira<\/strong><\/span><\/a> proposta por <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1080\/037454809494374\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wallace em 1854<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0para explicar a origem de esp\u00e9cies; seguida da <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scielo.br\/j\/ea\/a\/7BGF7hhdGBJgP75yFvNXLRt\/?lang=pt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hip\u00f3tese dos ref\u00fagios<\/a><\/strong><\/span> proposta por <a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/science.165.3889.131\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Haffer em 1969<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0para explicar a origem de esp\u00e9cies por dispers\u00e3o e isolamento durante expans\u00f5es e retra\u00e7\u00f5es florestais devido a varia\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas. Outra hip\u00f3tese conhecida \u00e9 a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/repositorio.bc.ufg.br\/bitstream\/ri\/11108\/1\/Artigo%20-%20Jos%C3%A9%20Alexandre%20Felizola%20Diniz%20Filho%20-%202009.pdf\">hip\u00f3tese de gradiente ecol\u00f3gico<\/a><\/strong><\/span> proposta por <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1093\/icb\/22.2.349\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Endler em 1982<\/a><\/span><\/strong> para explicar a origem da diversidade por dispers\u00e3o e adapta\u00e7\u00e3o em ambientes cont\u00ednuos, mas diferentes (veja na figura abaixo).<\/p><blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Compreender a evolu\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies na Amaz\u00f4nia ajuda a entender quest\u00f5es biogeogr\u00e1ficas importantes sobre o seu passado, suas mudan\u00e7as e a influ\u00eancia destas nas esp\u00e9cies que a habitam.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><p>Neste texto do blog, mostro um estudo onde investigamos a evolu\u00e7\u00e3o de um roedor cricet\u00eddeo (<a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cricetidae\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Fam\u00edlia Cricetidae<\/strong><\/span><\/a>) da esp\u00e9cie <em>Hylaeamys megacephalus<\/em>, conhecido como rato-do-mato, testando as hip\u00f3teses mencionadas acima. Assim, buscamos entender se o rio Amazonas foi uma barreira para esse roedor, levando a separa\u00e7\u00e3o dos grupos (ou popula\u00e7\u00f5es) dessa esp\u00e9cie. Tamb\u00e9m buscamos entender as mudan\u00e7as na distribui\u00e7\u00e3o geogr\u00e1fica das florestas no passado e se elas explicam a separa\u00e7\u00e3o entre os grupos dessa esp\u00e9cie e se essas mudan\u00e7as poderiam ser respons\u00e1veis pela forma\u00e7\u00e3o de grupos distintos dentro dessa esp\u00e9cie.<\/p><p>Ecologia e evolu\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o \u00e1reas integradas, para entender a evolu\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies \u00e9 preciso entender tamb\u00e9m sua ecologia. Para isso, al\u00e9m das an\u00e1lises gen\u00e9ticas, utilizamos em nosso estudo um m\u00e9todo bastante \u00fatil em ecologia e evolu\u00e7\u00e3o, conhecido como modelo de nicho ecol\u00f3gico. Os modelos de nicho ecol\u00f3gico podem ser integrados aos dados gen\u00e9ticos. Dessa forma, auxiliam na compreens\u00e3o do papel dos processos hist\u00f3ricos e ecol\u00f3gicos sobre os mecanismos de diversifica\u00e7\u00e3o, al\u00e9m de possibilitar o teste de hip\u00f3teses como as mostradas anteriormente (veja a Sess\u00e3o <em>Want to know more? Access the links below!<\/em>). Esses modelos tamb\u00e9m podem ser usados para mapear a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o geogr\u00e1fica passada.<\/p><p>Nesse estudo, usamos dados gen\u00e9ticos para investigar as rela\u00e7\u00f5es entre os indiv\u00edduos desse roedor atrav\u00e9s de uma <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pt.khanacademy.org\/science\/biology\/her\/tree-of-life\/a\/phylogenetic-trees\">\u00e1rvore filogen\u00e9tica<\/a><\/span><\/strong> que determina quais indiv\u00edduos est\u00e3o mais relacionados entre si, incluindo uma estimativa do tempo de diverg\u00eancia conhecido como <a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rel%C3%B3gio_molecular#:~:text=O%20rel%C3%B3gio%20molecular%20%C3%A9%20uma,sequ%C3%AAncias%20de%20DNA%20ou%20prote%C3%ADnas.&amp;text=Ele%20tornou%20poss%C3%ADvel%20prever%20v%C3%A1rias,na%20taxa%20de%20evolu%C3%A7%C3%A3o%20molecular.\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">data\u00e7\u00e3o molecular<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. Na data\u00e7\u00e3o molecular, a quantidade de varia\u00e7\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas de um determinado grupo ou esp\u00e9cie s\u00e3o calibradas junto a dados gen\u00e9ticos de esp\u00e9cies-irm\u00e3s (esp\u00e9cies com rela\u00e7\u00e3o de parentesco direto) e dados f\u00f3sseis, quando dispon\u00edveis, para determinar a data mais prov\u00e1vel de separa\u00e7\u00e3o entre elas.<\/p><p>Atrav\u00e9s da \u00e1rvore filogen\u00e9tica datada (figura abaixo) realizamos uma an\u00e1lise de reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1rea ancestral, onde s\u00e3o estimadas as \u00e1reas mais prov\u00e1veis de ocorr\u00eancia para o ancestral comum entre dois indiv\u00edduos (ou em outros casos, entre esp\u00e9cies) atrav\u00e9s das \u00e1reas conhecidas para cada indiv\u00edduo (que \u00e9 representado por cada ramo da \u00e1rvore filogen\u00e9tica). Por\u00e9m, a origem desse rio \u00e9 datada para cerca de 10 Ma devido ao soerguimento dos Andes que causou o desprendimento do Lago Pebas (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/revistapesquisa.fapesp.br\/o-passado-remoto-de-um-grande-rio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">um grande sistema de lagos e \u00e1reas alagadas no oeste da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/a><\/span><\/strong>), resultando em uma revers\u00e3o na dire\u00e7\u00e3o leste para oeste do fluxo da antiga Bacia Amaz\u00f4nica de oeste para leste fluindo para o Oceano Atl\u00e2ntico. Ainda assim, outros estudos concordam que a drenagem moderna do rio Amazonas teria se estabelecido apenas por volta de 2 Ma (veja mais detalhes na Sess\u00e3o <em>Want to know more? Access the links below!<\/em>).<\/p><p>O grupo do sul da Amaz\u00f4nia e do Cerrado teriam divergido h\u00e1 cerca de 780 mil anos atr\u00e1s atrav\u00e9s de um evento de dispers\u00e3o da \u00e1rea do Xingu-Tocantins para as outras \u00e1reas do sul da Amaz\u00f4nia e do Cerrado. Avaliamos tamb\u00e9m as diferen\u00e7as ecol\u00f3gicas entre os grupos desse roedor. N\u00e3o encontramos diferencia\u00e7\u00e3o ecol\u00f3gica entre o norte e sul da Amaz\u00f4nia, mas encontramos diferen\u00e7as entre os grupos do sul da Amaz\u00f4nia e do Cerrado. Geramos tamb\u00e9m uma grande quantidade de dados gen\u00e9ticos para a esp\u00e9cie investigada, os quais foram disponibilizados na base de dados do <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/genbank\/\">Genbank<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.
